With spring just around the corner, you’ll find lots of exciting and colourful events taking place across Scotland. Kickstart the season in true Scottish style with easter egg hunts, farm visits, historic castles and indoor and outdoor attractions galore. Make the most of the better weather as we take you on a whistle-stop tour of what’s on from March to May. We can guarantee that these events will put a spring in your step.

Who doesn’t love chocolate? During the easter holidays in Scotland, our attractions will be able to sweeten the deal with an easter egg hunt. Bring the whole family along and check out what events are happening near you.
Conifox Easter Festival, (5 – 20 April 2025) – enter the maze on an epic Easter egg quest. Put your problem-solving skills to the test and collect the mini colourful eggs to trade for a big chocolate Easter egg at the end. Just beware you don’t get caught by the Big Bad Wolf! For the young and the young at heart, make sure to take part in the Easter-lympics with a classic egg and spoon race.
NTS Easter Egg Trails, various locations (18 – 21 April 2025) – the Easter bunny has lots of chocolatey surprises waiting for you. With 40 National Trust locations taking part including Haddo House, Threave Garden and Nature Reserve and Alloa Tower, will you be able to find all the eggs?

Spring is the best season to see adorable animals graze in the spring sunshine. Get your cuteness fix and see them in action. See new farm arrivals or why not saddle up as you explore your surroundings on horseback?
Lunan Bay Goats in Coats Festival, Angus (12 – 20 April 2025) – the resident goats will be dressed to impress with their colourful, hand-knitted jumpers and warm coats, perfect for some snuggles!
Easter at Craigie’s Farm, South Queensferry, Edinburgh (April 2025) – cuddle some newborn lambs, sit down comfortably with a storytelling session or grow your own plants.
Byres Farm, Fochabers – pick the best of the bunch and go daffodil picking or see the new arrivals on the farm with lots of cute lambs and baby goats ready to welcome you.
Sheepdog demonstrations, Shetland Rural Experience Centre – meet the dogs and witness what training is required to successfully manage the farm. You might even get the chance to see a new litter for some puppy cuddles.
Blackstone Clydesdales, Ayrshire – take care of a beautiful Clydesdale horse for the day. Explore the farm or gallop along sandy beaches.

Spring brings a new lease of life to our parks and gardens across the country, with new plant life starting to bloom. Head outdoors and see beautiful swathes of bright and vibrant colours showcasing Scotland’s natural beauty.
Scottish Garden Festival, Hamilton Park Racecourse (23 – 25 May 2025) – this horticulture event celebrates amazing garden talent. You’ll find a mix of interactive demonstrations, expert talks and tasty food and drink stalls, you’ll no doubt leave with lots of gardening tips and tricks to try at home.
Daffodil Festival, Backhouse Rossie Estate, Fife (12 – 13 April 2025) – spring has sprung with the arrival of daffodils, heralding brighter days here in Scotland. Peruse around the flower stands and see award-winning daffodils or immerse yourself in the beauty of nature with a Daffodil Garden Tour. For the kids, there are plenty of outdoor activities to keep them entertained from woodland themed quiz walks to a nine-hole putting green.

Our castles know how to plan a great day. Luckily enough, you don’t have to be a royal to gain exclusive access.
Breakfast with the easter bunny at Dalkeith Palace, Midlothian (12 April 2025) – start the day off right with a delicious breakfast. Kids can dig into a yummy pancake stack and the choice of a hot or soft drink. They’ll even be given their own chocolate egg to take home with them and of course lots of selfies with the easter bunny.
Spring Family Fun Day, Glamis Castle (13 April 2025) – this castle certainly doesn’t do things by halves. How does laser clay pigeon shooting, segways, bungee trampolines and inflatable chip shot golf sound? Make sure to keep those rumbling tummies at bay with a bite to eat from the market stalls to refuel.
Scone Palace Garden Fair (30 – 31 May 2025) – Scotland’s National Flower Show is back for its fourth year. Held in the delightful grounds of Scone Palace, this special day out for all the family offers beautiful floral displays, inspiring workshops, expert talks and the grand return of the Scottish Garden Design Competition.

Craft your way to joy at Spring Fling, the UK’s most successful contemporary visual art and crafts events. The event itself is a great advocate for sustainability having been awarded the GSA Biosphere Sustainable Events Charter, encouraging visitors to bring their own bag when purchasing gifts to using public transport to get to the venue.
This year, over 80 studios will be taking part, giving you a flavour of the artists' work through demonstrating and explaining their different techniques and processes. From painting and drawing, printmaking and costume designing to hats and jewellery, you will no doubt feel inspired to unleash your creativity in your spare time. If you’re looking to spruce up your home with beautifully decorated crafts, you can buy directly from the artist too.

Come rain or shine, Scotland is brimming with fun activities for families over spring. From farm experiences to science festivals, there’s something for everyone.
Edinburgh Science Festival (5 – 20 April 2025) – visit the UK’s largest science festival this easter. You’ll find lots of hands-on activities in different venues across the city, learning about the science behind spaceships, weather, dinosaurs and much more.
Easter at Guardswell Farm, Perthshire (18 – 21 April 2025) – enjoy the ultimate family getaway from donkey walks to wreath making, farm tours, family yoga and more. Before you go to sleep, snuggle up by the bonfire for a bedtime story.
Fort Douglas Easter Festival, Dalkeith Country Park, Midlothian (18 – 21 April 2025) – the kids will be in their element with zorbing, face painting and an easter scavenger hunt. Visit the Candy Floss Cabin for some sweet treats and make sure to say hello to the easter bunny.
Edinburgh International Children’s Festival (24 May – 1 June 2025) – let young imaginations run wild with nine days of jam-packed action ranging from children’s theatre shows to dance.
